Since 1996, Olivier Antoniotti has been responsible for M&M Militzer & Münch Maroc S.A. as Managing Director. He has substantially contributed to the successful development of the company. In this interview, he talks about how he joined Militzer & Münch 25 years ago, and provides insight into the Moroccan logistics industry.

Antoniotti did not specifically plan to work in the transport and logistics sector. When he completed his civilian service from 1993 to 1995 at Militzer & Münch Morocco, he discovered it was his vocation. In 1996, he was proposed as Managing Director of Militzer & Münch Morocco — a challenge he happily accepted.

Key milestones for Militzer & Münch Morocco

Important milestones include: the opening of the first bonded warehouse in Morocco in February 2000; the creation of the Spedimex transit subsidiary in 2001; the construction of platforms in Casablanca (2003), Tangiers (2008 and 2016), and Sapino Nouaceur (2012); recognition by the Moroccan Transport Federation with the “Award for Road Transport Managers 2013 – Morocco”; the creation of a network of 20 weekly groupage lines; and AEO / Safety & Security certification.

Commitment to sustainability

In November 2016, Militzer & Münch Morocco was among the cosignatories of the first Moroccan Charter in favor of green logistics. This commitment has been implemented through solar water heaters and glazed roof panels in the Tangiers customs terminal, a water recuperation system, fleet upgrades to Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards, and 100 percent electric forklifts in warehouses.

Future goals and market outlook

IT system modernization is a priority to address digitalization and tracking & tracing challenges. Business in Tangiers is developing strongly, corroborating the decision to settle there long-term. Morocco’s economic development — especially in automobile and aeronautics industries — gives Militzer & Münch Morocco a very optimistic outlook for the future.
