Holger Seehusen is a member of the Militzer & Münch Group Management and Managing Director of the German M&M air sea cargo GmbH. Thanks to his 30 years of experience in the logistics industry, he is particularly familiar with the market in Asia. In the interview, he explains why the Militzer & Münch Group’s business has developed well in the past months, and why he considers it a privilege to work in the logistics industry.

Since 2018, based in Frankfurt, Seehusen has been responsible for the Air & Sea activities in Germany and, as a member of the Group Management, for the product development of the Air & Sea sector worldwide. Business development in the Air & Sea activities, but also in particular in Rail transports, was very satisfactory in the past year, a trend continuing in the current fiscal year.

Militzer & Münch invested heavily in Trade Lane Management for the USA, Asia and India regions, and opened a subsidiary in Malaysia. Key challenges on the agenda include digitalization, junior staff development, reducing CO₂ emissions in transport, and the resulting shift in procurement markets.

“Militzer & Münch is a family-owned company, and we see ourselves as a medium-sized enterprise. Flat hierarchies give us the leeway to implement ideas. Our colleagues learn early on to take responsibility themselves and to simply try things out,” says Seehusen.

Among new products: a China-to-Europe truck route via Kazakhstan, and a planned air-road service from Shanghai via Almaty. The Rail segment, coordinated from Düsseldorf, continues to see significant potential on the Asia-Europe corridor.

“I have been at home in the industry since 1991. Despite my long years in this industry, I have a lot of fun and am still learning every day. I think I can transfer that enthusiasm to my colleagues – that’s what drives me,” says Seehusen.
